A Guided Journey into Expanded Awareness
BUFO KAAN
What is Bufo?
Bufo Alvarius is a naturally occurring substance containing 5-MeO-DMT, one of the most potent naturally occurring psychoactive compounds. When administered in a carefully prepared ceremonial setting, it produces a brief yet deeply immersive experience that often extends beyond ordinary states of consciousness.
While every journey is unique, many individuals describe a profound sense of stillness, unity, expanded awareness, and a temporary dissolution of the usual sense of self. Although the experience itself typically lasts 15–20 minutes, its insights and personal significance can continue to unfold long afterward through reflection and integration.
At Pixan Sanctuary, Bufo is approached with deep respect for both the medicine and the individual. Every ceremony includes thoughtful preparation, experienced guidance, and post-ceremony integration, creating a safe, supportive environment for meaningful inner exploration.

Multi-day medicine experiences surrounded by the wild beauty of the Caribbean
Sian Ka’an Immersive Retreats
Three-Day Private Bufo Retreat
Located within the breathtaking Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve at Kilometer 10, the retreat offers a secluded setting surrounded by untouched nature, Caribbean waters, and the reserve’s wild beauty.
In the Maya language, Sian Ka’an means “Origin of the Sky” — a fitting name for a place where the Caribbean, jungle, and expansive sky seem to meet. As a protected biosphere reserve, Sian Ka’an remains one of the most remarkable natural environments along the Caribbean coast.
The retreat takes place in a simple, rustic house set within the reserve, offering an intimate experience that feels connected to the surrounding landscape. Rather than the atmosphere of a traditional resort, the house is intentionally natural and understated — a quiet place to slow down, disconnect from the outside world, and experience the beauty and simplicity of Sian Ka’an.
Transportation to and from the retreat is included. Guests are picked up in Tulum and transported directly to Sian Ka’an, allowing them to arrive comfortably and focus entirely on the experience ahead.
Each retreat is private and thoughtfully customized around the individual. The pace, preparation, ceremony, integration, and time for rest are adapted to each guest’s needs.

Day One — Arrival & Preparation
Guests are picked up in Tulum and transported to the retreat in Sian Ka’an.
The first day is intentionally spacious, allowing time to settle into the environment, connect with the facilitators, explore the surroundings, and prepare for the experience ahead.
The evening is spent resting at the retreat and preparing for the following day.
Day Two — Bufo Ceremonies & Sian Ka’an Lagoon
The second day is devoted to the medicine and experiencing the natural surroundings of Sian Ka’an.
Two private Bufo ceremonies are included, with ample time between experiences for rest, reflection, nourishment, and integration.
There is no pressure to move quickly through the day. The timing and pace of each ceremony are guided by the individual and their experience.
The day also includes a private boat tour through the lagoons of Sian Ka’an, offering time to experience the reserve from the water and take in its mangroves, wildlife, and expansive natural landscape.
The remainder of the day is spent resting and integrating in the peaceful surroundings of Sian Ka’an.
Day Three — Integration & Closing
The final morning begins slowly with breakfast and time to reflect.
A private integration session and closing ceremony provide space to process the experience and discuss how to carry insights from the retreat into everyday life.
Following the closing ceremony, guests are transported from Sian Ka’an back to Tulum.
