Amazonian Medicine

Four-Day Amazonian Medicine Retreat

Located within the breathtaking Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve at Kilometer 10, the retreat offers a secluded setting surrounded by untouched nature, Caribbean waters, and the wild beauty of the reserve.
In the Maya language, Sian Ka’an means “Origin of the Sky” — a fitting name for a place where the Caribbean, jungle, and expansive sky seem to meet. As a protected biosphere reserve, Sian Ka’an remains one of the most remarkable natural environments along the Caribbean coast.
The retreat takes place in a simple, rustic house immersed in the reserve, offering an intimate experience that feels connected to the landscape around it. Rather than the atmosphere of a traditional resort, the house is intentionally natural and understated — a quiet place to slow down, disconnect from the outside world, and experience the beauty and simplicity of Sian Ka’an.
Transportation to and from the retreat is included. Guests are picked up in Tulum and transported directly to Sian Ka’an, allowing them to arrive comfortably and focus entirely on the experience ahead.
These are intimate group retreats, with time intentionally built in for preparation, ceremony, rest, and integration.

Day One — Arrival & First Ceremony
Guests are picked up in Tulum and transported to the retreat in Sian Ka’an. The first day allows time to settle into the environment, meet the facilitators and other guests, and prepare for the experience ahead. The first Amazonian medicine ceremony takes place that evening.

Day Two — Second Ceremony
The morning and afternoon are intentionally spacious, allowing time for rest, nourishment, reflection, and preparation for the second ceremony.
The second Amazonian medicine ceremony takes place that evening.

Day Three — Rest & Integration
The third day is dedicated entirely to rest and integration.
After two nights of ceremony, guests have a full day with no medicine work. This creates space to sleep, nourish the body, spend time in nature, reflect on the experiences of the previous nights, and allow the process to settle naturally.

Day Four — Closing & Departure
The final morning begins slowly with breakfast and time for reflection.
A closing integration session provides space to discuss the experience and how to carry insights from the retreat into everyday life.
Following the closing, guests are transported from Sian Ka’an back to Tulum.

The Experience

Every experience begins with thoughtful preparation. Before your journey, you will complete a comprehensive intake that includes both medical and psychological screening. This allows us to understand your health history, current medications, previous experiences, and any factors that may affect your safety or experience.
Following your intake, we will schedule a private preparation call. This is an opportunity to meet, discuss your intentions, review what to expect, answer questions, and address any concerns before your arrival.
Our goal is to ensure that you feel informed, comfortable, and prepared—and that the experience is appropriate for you before moving forward.

Your experience begins when you arrive at Pixan Sanctuary, surrounded by the quiet of the jungle. Before entering the ceremony, we take time to slow down and connect through conversation and therapeutic preparation. You’ll have the opportunity to swim in our private cenote, spend time in nature, and let your body and nervous system settle into a more relaxed, receptive state.
The ceremony itself is held inside the sanctuary in an intimate space prepared with candles, copal, and intentional music. Away from the distractions of everyday life, Pixan offers a peaceful setting to turn inward, surrender to the experience, and create space for what may be ready to shift or be released.
There is no rush to leave afterward. You’ll have plenty of time to rest, talk, process your experience, and begin integration before returning to everyday life. Grounding food is provided, and private transportation to and from Tulum is included so that your attention can remain on your experience from arrival through departure.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to integration. Every experience is different, and the process of understanding and incorporating what emerges from a ceremony is deeply personal.
Integration begins immediately after your ceremony, with time to rest, reflect, and process your experience before leaving the sanctuary. You will also receive a take-home journal with prompts designed to help you continue exploring your experience in the days that follow.
Approximately two days after your ceremony, we reconnect for a private integration call. Together, we reflect on what came up during your experience, how you are feeling afterward, and how the experience may relate to your life moving forward. When appropriate, individualized recommendations and practices are offered to support continued growth and help you carry what you learned into everyday life.
